This Massage Chain Is Excellent, Affordable, and Has Multiple Locations Around the City

There is no shortage of great massage places in Taipei, but finding your new go-to place can seem overwhelming when you don’t know where to start. And although we are still suckers for the cheap blind massage place in Taipei City Mall and the Chinese Medicine Clinic that does electroacupuncture near Technology Building, we’re always on the hunt for the next best spot. So when our Taiwanese friend eagerly assured us that he knew one of the best places (part of a chain) in the city, where they would “chop us like a chicken,” we knew we had to check it out.

Xin An Centre is a nice, clean blind massage chain offering great massages at a super competitive price — we haven’t seen a cheaper place, although prices are comparable to other blind massage joints. It is the biggest blind massage chain in Taiwan, and its founder, who is blind, created it with the goal of helping other blind people. There are plenty of locations around the city (and many in other cities, too). Although all masseuses at the Xin An Centre undergo extensive massage training, according to our friend the shop at Nanjing Fuxing has the best masseuses, and is also the cleanest. Staff generally do not speak English, but are friendly enough and do their best to understand and cater to your requests. There is a list of services and prices on the wall with English that you can point to. We didn’t need an appointment when we last went, but we noticed that people would call ahead to confirm availability — an extra precaution that you may want to take.

Although we were sceptical at first, the massage completely sold us. Our masseuses worked efficiently with great skill, and we were surprised at how little it hurt both during the massage and after the massage — that is, compared to other blind massages we’ve had. You should still expect some pain. It certainly wasn’t a luxury experience, but for what we paid, we felt like it was excellent value.

Overall, we were very impressed by our visit to the Xin An Centre. It was comfortable, clean, and cheap while offering a great massage that left us feeling loose for days.

What’s the vibe?

Blind massage chain with multiple locations around the city. Customers are mostly Taiwanese.

Worth it?

Heck yes! We love that you don’t have to commit for a full hour and still leave feeling great. It’s an excellent place to stop by for a quick, effective massage.

Would you go back?

We most definitely will, and we’ll be bringing friends too!
