Taipei’s Newest Pizza Place is a Hidden Gem

A delicious new pizza place recently opened in Taipei, tucked below the intersection of two overpasses.

Under the Bridge (็„ก่จ‚ไฝ) serves cheesy NYC style pizzas with thin crusts and just the right amount of grease. It’s a hole in the wall by the same team behind Pizza Has a Face, located beneath Xinsheng Elevated Road and Civic Blvd (just down the road from ParkLife Drinking Room and directly opposite Syntrend and Guanghua Digital Plaza).

There are only a few options for pizza flavors at the moment — quality over quantity! You can order by the slice for a quick bite, or wait for a whole 16 inch pie. We love the slice option because there still aren’t too many places in Taipei that offer over-the-counter slices. Little New York does at their Zhongshan location, but honestly availability can be a little hit and miss.

The restaurant itself is small and they don’t take reservations; Under the Bridge feels more like the type of place to grab a quick slice and go. We decided to go early enough to get seats and opted to try each of the 4 different flavors on offer. We ordered at the counter (note that it’s cash only) and waited just a few minutes for our reheated slices!

Sollozzo ($130) and Brooklyn ($90)

Basic but oh so good when served hot. We had to fold them to eat because they were so floppy.

Django ($140) and Guilty Pleasure ($150)

The dill meatballs, rosemary, and parmesan brought a lot of flavor to the Django, and the jalapeรฑos added a surprising amount of heat. But our favorite slice — and surely the most controversial of all — may have been the Guilty Pleasure with pineapple and spam. We can hear the Italians scoffing in protest and to them we say: don’t knock it ’till you’ve tried it.

Under the Bridge serves both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks from a fully-stocked fridge. They also have a couple beer options on tap.

Overall this was a fast and tasty experience. As far as Taipei pizza goes, Under the Bridge has to be one of the best options for slices in the city. Check them out on Google Maps and Instagram.
