Fika Fika Cafe: Nice But Overpriced

Fika Fika, the award-winning cafe in Zhongshan that specializes in Nordic-style coffee and baked goods, looks great. However, we feel it’s somewhat overrated. Though the coffee was good, everything was overpriced.

If you don’t mind spending a lot of money and you’re just looking for a nice cafe to do some work, you might want to check it out.

The Nordic-inspired decor is sleek and stylish. The cafe was full of people working on laptops on a weekday morning, no doubt due to the calm and comfortable atmosphere.

We placed our order at the counter with the somewhat abrupt staff and waited a while for our food and drinks to arrive.

The Honey Mustard Chicken Panini was the biggest disappointment. It was bland and way overpriced at NT$330.

They were out of the Buttered Apple with Cinnamon Bagels when we visited, so we had to get a plain one instead.

The Sparkling Espresso (NT$200) sounded interesting but was off-putting.

The Iced Brown Sugar Latte was pretty good, but we wouldn’t pay NT$200 for it again.

The Cube Latte (pictured above) was perhaps our favourite order. It’s a deconstructed latte with frozen coffee cubes sitting in milk and a cup of syrup on the side. The coffee was indisputably good, but it’s more of a novelty, especially considering the shocking price of NT$250.

We left Fika Fika feeling underwhelmed and a bit sick about how much money we spent.

What’s the vibe?

Stylish and modern cafe with a mellow atmosphere that’s good for doing work.

Worth it?

No.

The coffee was good, but it wasn’t worth the money. Don’t come hungry – we do not recommend the food.

Would you go back?

No.

Our wallets took a big enough hit the first time.
